Casa Portufornia has always been more than a place to work.
Over time, it has become a meeting point for founders, creatives, operators, investors, artists and curious minds from different backgrounds, industries and countries. People who arrived in Portugal last year, and people whose families have been here for generations.
The mix is usually local and international, well-established and just starting out.
People come for a gathering, a workshop, a dinner, a conversation. What brings them together is a shared curiosity about ideas, about each other, about what they might make next.
The best encounters can't be planned. But the right environment makes them far more likely.

Nikolaus comes from brand building, storytelling and creative leadership. Sara from coaching and leadership development, and from a sharp instinct for what's really going on beneath what people say.
Neither of them works from the sidelines. They get in with you – Nikolaus on the direction and the story, Sara on the people and what's moving underneath. Creativity without clarity is just noise. Clarity without creativity goes nowhere. The two of them rarely work apart for long.
Depending on what you're working on, you might work with one of them. Sometimes with both.

It started with a question: how do we want to live and work in the future? Not in theory. For ourselves.
Could work become more human without becoming less ambitious? Could a change of place lead to better conversations, and better work?
Then we found a mid-century villa in Portugal's UNESCO-protected Sintra region. Not as the answer, but as the place to start asking.
The name says it. Portugal for the roots, the sense of a real place. California for the belief that the future gets built somewhere, and it might as well be here. Portufornia.
Over time, it became more than a home. A way of working, where different worlds cross paths and the most important conversations happen outside the meeting room.
Resort-Work™ didn't begin as a concept. It emerged from living this way.
Just beyond the villa, Sintra unfolds in all its wildness. Ancient palaces, dramatic cliffs, dense forests and breathtaking beaches are all within reach. Wander, hike, cycle or surf. Practice yoga beneath the trees, eat from the garden, breathe the Atlantic air and let the landscape do what it has always done: shift your perspective.
